Convert a bank statement PDF to Excel

Banks hand out statements as PDFs, but a PDF can't be sorted, totaled, or filtered. Copying the rows into a spreadsheet by hand takes an hour and invites typos.

Ledgerline reads the PDF for you, puts every transaction into an Excel file with a date, description, and amount column, and then proves the numbers are right before you download.

What makes it different from a plain converter

Most converters pull out text and hope for the best. Ledgerline does the arithmetic: the opening balance, plus every deposit, minus every withdrawal, has to land exactly on the closing balance printed on the statement. If the bank prints a running balance, every single row is checked against it too.

When something doesn't add up, Ledgerline tells you, and points at the row or section that's off, so you fix one line instead of rechecking the whole statement.

What you get in the Excel file

  • One row per transaction: date, description, and amount
  • Money in as positive numbers, money out as negative, ready to total
  • The running balance and the page each row came from, when the statement has them
  • A Corrections sheet listing any row you fixed, so there's a record

Questions

Does it work with scanned paper statements?

Not yet. Ledgerline reads PDFs that you download from your bank's website, which have real text inside. If a page is a scanned picture, Ledgerline tells you instead of guessing, and the statement is given back.

Is my statement kept?

The PDF is stored privately, encrypted, and deleted automatically after 90 days. Nobody reads it; Ledgerline is software only.
